The MaK V 146, also known as the OnRail DH 1004, is one of the modern diesel-hydraulic locomotives of the B'B' series, originally developed for medium to heavy-duty freight service. Produced in 2000 and equipped with powerful technology, it served as a reliable and robust traction vehicle solution for many years in national rail operations. The locomotive is based on the proven modular concept of OnRail, a company that emerged after the privatization of MaK's locomotive construction division and focused particularly on customized solutions and custom-made products. The locomotive offered here, with the NVR number 92 80 1209 004-1, is currently not in operational condition and is expressly offered as a spare parts donor. Neither the engine nor the transmission are present. Most parts of the train protection system (Siemens I60R PZB system) have also been dismantled. Nevertheless, due to its otherwise largely complete structure, including the frame, bogies, and superstructure, the locomotive is a valuable source of original components for operators or workshops that maintain or restore identical or similar locomotives. The V 146 has a length over buffers of 12,100 mm and a service weight of 72 tonnes. It is currently mounted on GM-190 EVO auxiliary bogies. The maximum permitted speed of the series is 100 km/h. The installed braking systems comply with the KE-GP-mz (Samson) standard, with a braked weight of 79 tonnes in P mode and 63 tonnes in G mode. The locomotive has four axles in two bogies, making it well suited for winding routes. The OnRail DH 1004 was developed and built in Germany in the 1990s and early 2000s for flexible use. Its modular design, easy maintainability, and powerful performance quickly made it popular with private railway companies. Even though the V 146 offered here is no longer in service, it represents an attractive opportunity to secure hard-to-find original parts or to carry out a comprehensive refurbishment.
