The Vossloh G 400 (G 400 B) is a compact, diesel-hydraulic shunting locomotive for light to medium-duty shunting and transfer operations. It belongs to Vossloh Locomotives' fourth model range, but is based on the proven MaK/VSFT G 322 and was built in Kiel in the early 2000s. With a B wheel arrangement, 40 t service weight, a 50 m minimum radius, and a top speed of 70 km/h, it is ideal for industrial, workshop, and station maneuvers, as well as short transfers. The G 400 B is powered by the MTU 8V 183 TD13 (diesel V8) with 390 kW output; power transmission is handled by the Voith L2r4zseU2 turbo reversing transmission. The 1,000-liter fuel tank ensures long operating times. Depending on the equipment, radio remote control, RK900 shunting coupling, hydrodynamic brakes, and constant speed control are available – features that increase productivity and safety, especially in everyday shunting operations. Historically, the series is classified as a modernized development of the G 322; the renaming to G 400 B followed Vossloh's fourth-generation numbering system. This explains the technical similarities (including the chassis and drive concept) combined with optimized details.
