The V 100 West, officially designated as the Class 211, is a proven diesel-hydraulic locomotive originally developed for light line service on the Deutsche Bundesbahn (German Federal Railway). The locomotive offered here was built in 1962 and is still operational today. With an output of 1,000 kW, generated by a modern CAT 3512 L diesel engine, this vehicle is ideal for shunting and light to medium line operations. Its maximum speed is 100 km/h and its tractive effort is 177 kN – thus meeting today's requirements for industrial or connecting railway operations. This locomotive, with the B'B' axle configuration, impresses with its robust technology, high reliability, and solid maintenance history. The current overhaul cycle runs until April 2026; the last major inspection took place in 2018. The locomotive is currently in the workshop; normal signs of wear are present but no serious technical defects. Safety-relevant systems such as the PZB train protection system and radio communication (MESA 26) are also installed. With a total weight of 62 tons and a length over buffers of 12,100 mm, the V 100 West offers a solid foundation for a wide range of applications. The minimum operating radius is 100 meters, making it suitable even for narrow track layouts. The locomotive does not have a shunting radio or remote control system, but its simple mechanics and classic design make it easy to operate and maintain. Overall, the BR 211 is a piece of railway history that lives on with modern technology – a perfect combination of tradition and efficiency for railway enthusiasts, heritage railway operators, or industrial users with a sense of robust quality.
