The Universal Railway Telephone – UPT is a device used in railway infrastructure. Depending on its purpose, it can be implemented in the following variants:
Telephone at exit signals (TIS)
Telephone at entry signals (TUS)
Telephone for the needs of APB and spatial signals (TAPB)
Telephone on railway sections (PT)
Telephone on platforms and shunting stations (CB)
The UPT is designed to be installed in places where existing track phones was already in use without any modifications to the construction. The device can be connected via copper wires, which provide communications and power, or through optical fibers for communication, with a separate power cable required for the power supply. It can be powered by either DC or AC (both single-phase and three-phase).
All versions of the UPT are housed in a special cabinet that matches the design of the cabinets which are already in use.
